Math:
This week in Math, we will continue learning how to tell time to the hour and half hour. Also, we are focusing on how we can use non-standard units (cubes, paper clips, etc.) to find the length of objects. We are going to be discussing some different rules when measuring objects. We will learn why the measurement would be different when using cubes vs. large paperclips (you would you less paperclips because paperclips are longer than cubes). New vocabulary words: estimate, measure, length.
During math workshop, small groups will be rotating between partner games, independent work, technology station, and teacher table. For independent work, the students will measure a chair, their table, a rug, and a bookshelf with unifix cubes. For partner work, the students will be playing a game called Monster Mansion. The students will use cubes, paper clips, and teddy bear/dinosaur counters to measure different paths. The students will check each other's work and record their answers. At the teacher table, the students will practice measuring different objects (pencils, books, erasers). The students will work on following all the measurement rules. We will continue to focus on why the measurement would be different when using cubes vs. large paperclips.

Science:
This week in Science, we will be completing our Animal Fact book. We have been learning about different habitats and how the habitat supports the life of the animal.
