Reading
- In Readers Workshop this week, we will be working on reviewing several previously taught concepts during our read alouds.
- Character, setting, problem, solution, genres, lessons learned, nonfiction features, dialogue, etc.
- Please continue reading with your child at home, that extra practice with you is so important to reinforce and sustain reading skills!
Writing
- In Writer's Workshop, we will continue writing our series books. Each student has created their own character and a list of realistic problems their character could have.
- Now its time to write several books with the same character but different problems to create a series all their own!
- Thursday, April 19th we will have our high frequency writing assessment. Please practice spelling those 10 starred words for the 4th grading period located on the yellow paper in the back of your child's binder. The homework this week is also a great practice for this grade!
- Conventions and Grammar: This week, we will be focusing on the skill of noticing and using prepositions and prepositional phrases.

Word Study
- This week, we will be working with the vowel-consonant-silent e word families. We will be talking about how the "o" and the "u" make the LONG VOWEL sound when there is a silent-e at the end of the word. (ex: home, cute)

- You will see a GREEN WORD STUDY BOOKLET in the back of your child's binder. Just a reminder that this booklet stays in their binder. It should never stay at home. ALSO, your child should NOT work ahead on this booklet at home. We will work through it together at school, and then they can use it as a study tool at home. Please make sure they DO NOT work ahead in it at home. Thank you for your help with this!
