On Monday, we will be sending home a review sheet with your child for our upcoming math test. The review sheet will be due Thursday, however, your child will receive it back the following Monday to look over any corrections that might have been made.
This week, we will continue practicing writing in standard, expanded, and model form. We will also continue practice solving word problems.
Your child will be rotating through four different stations (Independent, Partner, Technology, and Teacher Table).
Independent: The students will complete a practice sheet with 3 addend problems and solving simple addition and subtraction sentences.
Partner: The students will have to find and identify numbers up to 120 as well as add/subtract 10 and add/subtract 1 from a number.
Teacher Table: The teacher will work with small groups to practice numeracy at their instructional level.

On Wednesday, we will be doing a fun activity where the students will get to Skype with another first grade class here at Pattison. The classes will come up with a Mystery Skype Number that the other class will have to try to figure out. The students will ask the following questions to try to figure out the number.....
Later in the week, the students will be rotating through another round of stations.
Independent: The students will be using the app called Number Pieces. The students will practice building the number using base ten blocks and writing the number in expanded form (100+10+3).
Partner: The students will work on an activity where they will be comparing two different numbers using the symbols < > and =. The students will also find the numbers on a one hundreds chart and a number line.
Teacher Table: The teacher will work with each group to practice numeracy at their instructional level.

This week in Science we will be covering the following objectives.
We will be reading a story called Sergio's Tree. The book is about how living things depend on other living things to survive. Later in the week, the students will work together in groups and each group will get an organism (sunflower, egret, cow, butterfly, milkweed) and two sentence strips. The students will write the needs on one sentence strip and how the organism provides on the other sentence strip.
Social Studies:
We will be learning about Ben Franklin and his inventions.
